My name is Ben Allen, and my studio Shattered Glass Records exists help you make your music. The only thing that matters to me is your song and the way it makes you feel when it's coming out of the speakers.
About
As a working musician and audio engineer for my entire adult life, I have spent a lot of time on both sides of the glass. Your music is a deeply personal expression of who you are. My job is to record your music professionally, respecting your sound and your artistic vision with honesty and integrity, at rates that are just enough for me to keep the lights on. I handle the technical side so that you can just be an artist and make music.
My work covers all genres, from electro-pop to gospel, but my strength is usually described as “raw and has guitars in it”, which sometimes means folk, rock, blues, and alternative.

Do you have a song you want to record? A recording you want to mix? A demo that needs some inspiration? I can help:
Bob came to me with a pile of songs. We spent some time getting to know each other, talking about his vision for his songs, his influences, and his goals as an artist. After recording a few scratch tracks with him, I started putting things together to create the sound he heard in his head.
I called up some musician friends and we had recording day, then I mixed and mastered those recordings so that he could have professional demos for his reel. He told me later that it was his life-long dream to record with a real country band, and bringing that dream to life for him made his year. So that was cool.
